FINE, CONOR

your tumblr, tumbls well…

cant beleive i just said that…

shottynochally:

So im gonna start a weekly little series of posts devoted to Snap Music (2005-2007 R.I.P.).

It’s one of the most unique and under-appreciated incarnations of rap music ever and most of it will probly be lost forever.

The majority of “doin’ it” music was being produced by highschool kids (some as young as 15) to play out at local strip clubs like The Poole Palace and other parties. These clubs would generally all do an underage night where the kids could come to show off their new songs and the dances to go with them (i’ve heard about 40 Crank Dat variations).

Subject matter ranges from “whats up” (Whats Hannanan, Whats The Deal (fuck wit cha boi), Wass Hapsenin, Wuz Up, Whats Up, Whats Crackin Playa) to affordable cell phone plans (Hit Me On My Metro) and you can dance to all of them.

Apart from Soulja Boy nobody really got signed and not much of it ever made it past the burned cd’s theyd play out at the club so alot of these songs will most likely dissapear with the popularity of the sound.

Anyways I love this shit and i’ve tried to archive as much of it as i can to share with anyone who’s interested…

The first song im gonna post is the first snap i ever heard and its produced by K-Rab featuring the boy Fabo.
